Quote(s): "I think the importance of doing activist work is precisely because it allows you to give back and to consider yourself not as a single individual who may have achieved whatever but to be a part of an ongoing historical movement." —Angela Davis "The activist is not the man who says the river is dirty. The activist is the man who cleans up the river." -Ross Perot About the episode: Garrett and Joy sit down in the Wellesley Public Library to discuss all of the things Joy balances day-to-day and Joy sheds light on what it's really like to be a newscaster! We get to learn all about the various philanthropies she supports and what community means to her. Why you'll love it: Joy opens up about having what you might call a quarter life crisis and how traveling to Asia for modeling helped her discover her passion for doing the news! Greater Message: You are just one person in a big universe. Give back. Don't be so consumed with yourself. Hard work pays off. Joy's upcoming events: May is Asian American Heritage Month and she's hosting the Boston Chinatown Neighborhood Center's 50th-anniversary gala on May 30 at the Intercontinental Hotel. The BCNC is the largest service provider for Asian Americans in Massachusetts.
