Questions About This Episode

What is Teacher Almost Faces Jail Time for THIS?! about?

Do you think old-school parenting is superior? Welcome back to Crying In My Car, a podcast for teachers! Our hosts Devin Siebold and James Yon are going to be revealing a huge teacher scandal involving tickling. Also is it fair for teachers to be paid off of evaluations? Finally we unpack some trauma and reminisce about old-school parenting, and debate whether or not there was any validity to those old parenting techniques. This week we featured a teacher who was charged for tickling one of their students. Not only did they get fired, but they also got a $40,000 fine. Is this punishment fair, or do you think this is a bit of overkill? Tune in to find out our take! Is it fair for a teacher to be paid based on an evaluation? While theoretically it makes sense for better performance to result in more payment, flawed metrics to unrealistic demands, this can prove to be a big problem for educators with the new pay-for-performance system that has been put into place. Finally we're going to be talking about parenting styles, was there something to old-school parenting? While Devin was definitely slightly traumatized by liver and onions, the way his parents were involved in volunteering at school and the way his friendships played out almost made it worth it. Things are definitely different than they used to be, listen in to hear our hilarious stories.
