Drummer Jonathan Balsamo of ATL’s own Palaces talks about the long road from recording their new record Sunhunting to working with Bill Kelliher of Mastodon and Tom Tapley as the mixer, as well as accepting click tracks for the first time with the band, JB’s go-to drums and an assortment of snares used on the recording, the many ways the band Generation of Vipers rules, his roots as a bass player and how he reluctantly became a drummer, early math rock influences and the faux pas of China Cymbals and Double Bass pedals outside of prog/metal, Helmet and Jon Stanier’s drumming kicking all the ass, being self-taught and much more!!
