The conversation opens with where the prop is at on the injury front before rattling off the battles that have kept him on the sideline, which includes a diabetes diagnosis whilst at high school (3:36). He went on to sign with his home province, Taranaki, where after a few years of service he was invited for a preseason with the Crusaders. Although he wouldn't earn a cap with the side, O'Neill credits his experience down south for playing a part in his selection for the All Blacks later that year (12:28). Having been exposed to the national set up and just earnt a full Super Rugby contract, injury would strike another cruel blow and force him to wait until 2020 to make his debut for the Chiefs (19:00). It was during this period that he doubled down on his health science studies and led to him launching his business - Optimal Human (24:47).
