Written by: Flora Annie Steel Once upon a time, there lived a rich man who wanted a boy for a child. When his wife gave birth to a girl, he decided never to see the face of his daughter again. The daughter grew up into a beautiful lady and when she was 18, an old man came to marry her. On advice, she asked the old man to first give her a silver coat, then a golden coat, and finally a coat made of bird's feathers. But still, she didn't marry the old man and ran away with the coats. She found a job as a cook's assistant at a big castle. There everyone called her Catskin because of her dress. The castle owners have arranged a ball for their young lord, and catskin joined the party in her coat and impressed everyone with her beauty and grace. This went on for 3 nights till the young lord chased her to her hideout place and found out her real identity.
