One of my earliest memories was my father allowing me to watch with him the 1960 Democratic Convention which nominated John Kennedy for president and Lyndon B. Johnson for Vice President. Two of my political heroes are Franklin Roosevelt and Lyndon B. Johnson. Roosevelt led the United States through the Great Depression. Lyndon Johnson was the greatest civil rights president since Abraham Lincoln. The passage of the civil rights act of 1964, the voting rights act of 1965, his fair housing act, the war on poverty, his established community colleges throughout the country, mark him as the greatest president in my lifetime.
