Questions About This Episode

What is Tales from the Creek Taylor Reed - Football about?

When Taylor Reed stepped on campus as a freshman in August of 2007 to say that he was more than familiar with his surroundings would be a vast understatement. Not only was Taylor a highly-valued defensive lineman who was preparing to compete for playing time on Campbell's first Division I football team, but he brought a family tie to the university that dated more than a century. Taylor Reed's great, great grandfather is James Archibald Campbell, who opened Buies Creek Academy on January 5, 1887. His great grandfather is Leslie Hartwell Campbell, who succeeded his father as president of Campbell College and oversaw the school's transition from junior college to a four-year institution in the early 1960s. His grandmother is Catherine Campbell King, longtime faculty member who spent decades welcoming newcomers to Buies Creek and making them feel at home. Taylor earned a starting spot on the defensive front as well as multiple PFL All-Academic honors and graduated with a degree from the Lundy-Fetterman School of Business. Now married and a father of two daughters, Taylor and his wife Lindsey not only decided to move back to Buies Creek, but they chose to live in his grandparents' home on Leslie Campbell Avenue. In the next episode of Tales from the Creek, Taylor Reed chats with Stan Cole about growing up in a Campbell family, his path to CU, his professional journey and much more. Suggestions for future Tales from the Creek interview subjects are always welcome and may be sent to Stan Cole at cole@campbell.edu.
