Episode 18 - Shabaz Ahmed

Wansey this week presents Shabaz Ahmed, whom he calls "The greatest player that's played the game." He's not alone. Emmad Hameed, writing in the Express Tribune says: "But one man arguably ranks higher than any player in the history of the game; his control of the hockey ball, lightening runs from one end of the field to another, razor sharp and accurate passes for the centre forwards made him the ‘Maradona of hockey'." Wikipedia adds: "no player in the history of Field hockey has left so much impact" This clip shows a little taste of the man in action and here the 1990 World Cup Final goal. We're grateful for his time and thrilled this week to present Pakistan superstar Shahbaz Ahmed.
