Jeremy Saulnier (Green Room / Blue Ruin)

Director Jeremy Saulnier is on the podcast! His latest film, Green Room, revolves around a young punk band called The Ain't Rights, who play playing the wrong bar on tour one night, and end up in a bloody standoff with a group on Nazi skinheads, led by none other than Patrick Stewart. It's an incredibly tense and violent film, and one of the most visceral theatrical experiences I've had in a very long time. I watch a lot of intense genre movies, but there were definitely sequences in Green Room I could not believe I was seeing in a mainstream thriller. We discuss his background in punk and hardcore, what attracted Patrick Stewart to the role, his relationship to violence in his films, and much more.
