Amy Sadao became Director of the Philadelphia Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA) in 2012 after working as Executive Director of Visual AIDS in New York city, where, over ten years, she took that organization from a budget deficit to a robust budget four times what it had been. Her work for Visual AIDS was activist, and she is still on their Board. Sadao has won many awards for her work, including the Woman in the Arts Leader award. There are not a lot of women directors of art museums, and in this interview, Sadao talks about that imbalance in the art world. We spoke with Amy at the ICA on April 7, 2014.
