055 - Would You Rather Be Right Or Be Kind

Welcome to 1 Minute Tips! I have recently wrote an article for a blog, where I talk about giving up on the need to always be right. I mention how the need to be right is directly related to an inflated ego. I also listed a handful of signs that could help you check if your ego is under (your) control. Here they are: You feel the urge to interrupt people to make a point. You can’t pay attention during a conversation. You are not open to ideas, criticism or opinions. You feel bad when you’re interrupted. You dislike being corrected or criticised. Your relationship is in constant war mode. If you can relate to these points, then it might be time to tame your ego. When you really think about it, the need to be right is nothing but a waste of time and energy. And here’s a fantastic quote by Dr. Wayne Dyer, which is also the title of this episode: “Would I rather be right, or would I rather be kind?” Reflect on this question. I’ve discovered that being kind works wonders for me. And honestly, I don’t care for being right all the time anymore. I’m Rod Gomes and I’ll come back with another 1 minute tip soon.
