(Este episodio especial está enteramente en inglés) (This episode is entirely in English with a brief intro in Spanish) Sohail Ahmed was born in London in the early 90s, his parents were from Pakistan and until he was 6 years old his family professed a pacific version of Islam. Then his parents were influenced by other families that began to connect to mosques lead by imams with more extremist interpretations of the Quran. That's how at a very young age he was taught to hate the infidels (kuffar) and he wished to become a martyr (a shahid). But by the age of 8 he also discovered he was attracted by kids of his same sex. He knew that homosexuality was punished by death but he couldn't leave his family and his faith and he didn't know how to deal with what he felt. Thus began the road to radicalization, which ultimately lead him to plan a terrorist act in his hometown that hopefully he did not execute. That incident together with his approachment to evolutionary theories and the acceptance of his sexual orientation turned his life upside down. We are so thankful for the opportunity to have a conversation with him and for all the mind blowing (and painful) experiences he shared. This was recorded on April 19th, 2024.
